Research

Research

At Baycrest, we conduct research to increase our understanding of the impact of illness, injury and aging on the brain and its functions.

Our aim is to improve the quality of life of seniors by conducting research studies on both the normal aging process and illnesses commonly associated with aging.

In this quest, our scientists focus on areas of research such as:

  • Age related cognitive changes
  • Forms of dementia (including Alzheimer's disease and Frontotemporal Dementias)
  • Stroke
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Depression
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Caregiving to relatives
  • Optimizing drug prescribing for older adults
  • Nutrition
  • Delivery of care

Our scientists hope to apply their research findings to client care -- what scientists call taking research "from bench to bedside".
