Baycrest BScN Gerontology Internship
Baycrest provides an innovative opportunity for new nursing graduates of an accredited university BScN program. This clinical internship in gerontological nursing extends over a 7 and a half month period, and is comprised of both clinical and academic experience.
The purpose of this program is to:
- To develop knowledgeable and qualified Gerontological nurses for future employment at Baycrest
- To promote Baycrest as a Centre of Nursing Excellence
- To provide in-depth learning /mentoring opportunities tailored to the needs of new nursing graduates in developing an expertise in Gerontological nursing.
- To create employment opportunities for BScN graduates
- To improve integration of new BScN graduates into the workplace
- To increase the understanding of the unique skill set required by geriatric nurses and the need for specialized education with the University Schools of Nursing
Criteria:
- Candidates must have successfully completed a BScN program from an accredited school of nursing within the past 6 months.
- Candidates must be eligible to write the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registration examination.
- Candidates must demonstrate a keen interest in Gerontological nursing.
