Learning & Career Development Opportunities for Staff
We believe that the personal and professional development of staff is an investment by Baycrest in our future. Ongoing education is crucial in today’s long-term care environment where the unique and ever changing needs of residents are becoming increasingly complex. Learning is important to enhancing care, service and quality of life for residents and staff.
- We provide a comprehensive orientation program for all new employees
- We encourage all employees to pursue a lifetime of learning and growth. Our Tuition Assistance Program provides funding, for full- or part-time employees pursuing a relevant/related diploma, degree or certification. In addition, there are numerous Educational Awards available to staff to support their participation in ongoing professional development courses and conferences
- Our Staff Library offers a pleasant study space filled with books, journals, and videos, and library staff ready to help you. In addition, we have a Virtual Library with on-line access to a variety of web-based resources
- Education & Organizational Effectiveness provides consultation, assistance, and co-ordination of learning opportunities and organizational effectiveness strategies for staff
- On-site Learning and Development Opportunities are available for all staff.
- On-Site Learning Opportunities for Nurses include:
- Personal Support Worker (PSW)-Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Bridging Program – Partnership with Humber College allowing our PSW staff and past PSW students the ability to become RPNs with 85% of the program offered on-site
- Ryerson BScN Education Program – Ryerson University holds one post-RN course on-site per semester, assisting our Registered Nursing staff to obtain their BScN status
- Geriatric Internship Program -an innovative opportunity for new nursing graduates of an accredited university BScN program. This clinical internship in gerontological nursing extends over a one year period, and is comprised of both clinical and academic experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for mentorship and exposure to cutting edge nursing research and care of the elderly
