Although no one can predict when the next influenza pandemic will hit, organizations around the world are working hard to develop plans to reduce the impact on the health of individuals, and on society in general.
Baycrest is developing a multi-phase preparedness and response plan for all departments. We are also working with the Toronto group of university-affiliated hospitals - known as the Toronto Academic Health Services Network organizations - on pandemic preparedness planning. It's important that we all share the best practices and have a uniform plan. Our plans are extensive and address many areas including human resources, patient care, clinical information, staff education, communication, occupational health and safety, and infection prevention and control. You have probably noticed a lot of news coverage about the potential pandemic, and you may have questions. Please use the information on this site as a reference to answer your questions. If you have a question that you can not find the answer to in these documents, please e-mail kmiel@baycrest.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
