It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Apotex Centre Jewish Home for the Aged, and the Louis and Leah Posluns Centre for Stroke and Cognition at Baycrest. You have chosen a very unique and special organization.
The principles of Judaism are woven into all that we do, whether it is our kosher food, our Jewish programming on holidays and throughout the year or the customs and beliefs that we follow. We also are an organization with a very unique comprehensive continuum of care – from outpatient wellness programs to our acute care unit – which provides more intense care to people at Baycrest if their condition changes. As an academic health sciences centre, we conduct research and provide education. Our research activities and clinical strengths give us the ability to develop a new understanding of aging and to develop best practices for the care of older persons.
One of our core values is our belief in client and family centered care. While we may be a large organization, we still believe that everyone we care for is an individual with special needs and plays an important role as part of the team. That includes being part of all the decisions that are made regarding to your care.
At Baycrest, we have very talented, very dedicated staff at every level, along with many caring volunteers and clinical students. By working together with you and your family members, Baycrest will deliver the best care, always with compassion and respect, and always with your best interest, comfort and health in mind.
As President and CEO of Baycrest, you have my commitment to never lose sight of our responsibilities to you and your family.
Yours sincerely,
