Medical Services and Your Health
Your medical care at Baycrest Hospital is the responsibility of our attending physicians. These doctors are available in person or by telephone to address concerns raised by the Care Team on each Hospital Unit. Typically, the attending physician visits the Unit three or four days each week, unless there are exceptional circumstances. During this time he or she will see patients who require the attention of a physician, based on recommendations from nursing staff.
An on-call system is maintained to provide physician support to staff each weeknight and on weekends. There is also an in-Hospital physician who deals with medical emergencies after-hours and on weekends.
A call bell located by your bed can be used to signal the nursing staff on duty. If you or your family have questions about any aspect of your care, please don’t hesitate to talk to a staff member.
During your stay, you may be referred for various tests and treatment by other Baycrest health professionals. This will be explained to you and your family, and our staff will arrange these appointments.
