Private Companions

Some patients and families may decide to hire Private Companions to provide social visiting or to offer extra assistance with certain activities of daily living.

While we fully support these relationships, Baycrest is legally responsible for addressing issues of quality of care, health and safety for all patients. For that reason, we have developed a comprehensive registration and orientation process for Private Companions. Our policy governing Private Companions requires the person who has hired the companion to register this individual and see that the person attends the mandatory orientation and training sessions.
