Identification Bracelets
For the safety of clients, all Hospital patients are required to wear identification bracelets. At admission, you will be given a plastic, disposable bracelet. This will be replaced later by a more attractive metal bracelet. Bracelets make it easier for staff to identify your floor, and how best they can meet your needs.
For example:
A yellow bracelet insert tells staff that a patient needs assistance with eating.
A white electronic bracelet identifies Baycrest clients considered to be at high risk for unsafe wandering or who may have trouble finding their way back to their rooms. These special, electronic bracelets prevent elevators from moving between floors and also control sliding doors so the patient can’t exit certain areas. (A manual override feature is available in the elevators and beside certain doors so visitors and caregivers can enter accompanied by a patient who is wearing such a security bracelet.)
Note to family and visitors: If you find an unaccompanied person wearing an orange bracelet, please be a good neighbour. Alert a staff member, contact the communications desk in our complex at 416-785-2500 extension 2130, or accompany the person back to his or her floor.
