Volume 5, No. 1, Fall 2004 - If Not Now e-journal
It has been awhile since If Not Now has come out in cyberspace, but this new edition will make up for the time lag. It has a diverse collection of articles contributed by children of survivors, academics, authors, poets, grade school students and a dentist. This particular collection speaks to the diversity, the complexity and the richness of the issues related to aging survivors. The themes, the projects and the clinical observations shed further perspective onto the depth of trauma experienced by all the survivors and the remarkable range of resiliency exhibited post War by the survivors and their descendants.
Since the previous edition Baycrest Centre is pleased to announce a new resource entitled “Caring for Aging Holocaust Survivors: A Practice Manual”. Published by the Baycrest Centre, with the support of the Claims Conference, this Manual is intended for both family members and healthcare professionals. It provides a comprehensive overview of the many care issues with a full range of multidisciplinary practical suggestions. Over fifty authors, representing all aspects of physical social and emotional care have contributed to create an invaluable resource to support older adults who are Survivors of the Holocaust. The Manual has been designed to encourage copying of individual articles to share with healthcare professionals and family members in the hope that Survivors of the Holocaust will be ensured of sensitive and dignified as they live through the final chapters of their lives.
