Holocaust Survivors across GTA will attend their Senior Prom …after more than 65 years!
Toronto, ONT – A special evening will unfold for 140 Holocaust Survivors across the GTA on Thursday, May 3, 2007. That is the night they will attend their Senior Prom – the one they missed because of World War II and the Holocaust.
Hosted by Baycrest Geriatric Health Care System, the Survivors will be treated to the full Prom experience, with a decorated gymnasium, live music, and dance partners. Jewish university students, who are Hillel members from campuses across Ontario, have graciously volunteered to be dance partners, food servers and conversationalists.
“Baycrest has been working with so many Holocaust Survivors over the years. We know we can’t give them back what they lost, but we look for every opportunity to give them good times and new memories,” says social worker Paula David, who oversees the Holocaust Resource Programs at Baycrest.
