Long-time Baycrest supporters Rabbi Solomon and Tauba Spiro receive a certificate honoring their family's generous donation to create the Spiro Family Garden at Baycrest. The beautiful outdoor oasis for elderly clients, families, visitors and staff is located on the 2nd floor rooftop connecting the Brain Health Centre and Baycrest Hospital.
It encompasses 12,000 square feet of decking and planters made of Ipe, a plantation grown hardwood from Brazil. Laid out in a dramatic pattern, the decking creates the backdrop for the custom-made furniture of the same material and thousands of trees, shrubs and flowers. A stunning sculptured pavilion provides protection from the sun. The garden is dedicated to the memory of Rabbi Spiro's parents, Rabbi Joshua and Sarah Spiro and his sister Chana.
