FAQs

Q: What is the staffing in Apotex?

A: Each unit in Apotex is led by a Nurse Manager and a Clinical Coach, except for A6. A6 has a Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Manager.

The role of the Clinical Coach is to interact with patient care staff and assist them by coaching them through new or challenging situations.

In the Manager domain, these individuals are responsible for recruitment, budgeting and day-to-day operations.

Both the Nurse Manager and Clinical Coach are Masters prepared RNs. A Nurse Practitioner is a masters prepared RN with with advanced education and training related to the Nurse Practitioner role.

There are 79 residents per floor.  Each unit is staffed with RNs, RPNs and PSWs.  These staff all  report to the Nurse Manager.  In addition there is access to a social worker and a Therapeutic Recreationist on each floor.

Q: Why may the phone not be answered on weekends and evenings?

A: During the evenings and on weekends, Unit Clerks are not present. If the phone is not being answered, it is because the staff are giving care to their clients. If you leave a message, your call will be returned.
