Although Baycrest Geriatric Health Care System evolved from the Toronto Jewish Old Folks Home, founded in 1918, its facilities now serve the broader community.

Most of our 1,700 staff come from varied backgrounds and so do nearly half of our patients. Our model of client-focused care demonstrates both our respect for the elderly and our philosophy of relationships.

Baycrest has evolved into an internationally-renowned academic geriatric health sciences centre. Our nurses are empowered to make decisions, given opportunities for professional development and encouraged to realize their full scope of practice.
