Parkinson’s Early Management Program
A 10-week program for adults who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the last three years, and their care providers. The program includes participatory discussion, education and specialized exercise sessions in a warm water pool and on land.
The goals of this program are to:
- Understand more about Parkinson's and how it affects you
- Learn how to safely and effectively exercise with Parkinson's
- Learn to improve flexibility, muscle strength and endurance
- Learn about and practice relaxation techniques
- Learn to better manage your daily activities
- Explore recreational opportunities and community resources
- Learn to better communicate with you doctor/health care professionals
- Discuss common concerns such as medications, sleep, speech and swallowing, coping strategies, nutrition, maintaining and developing relationships
- Set and achieve realistic goals that are important to you
Fee:
$200 for a 10-week session, twice-weekly. Private health insurance plan may cover this cost. Partners attend at no extra cost.
