This out-patient service is for seniors in the community who suffer from depressive illness. Treatment consists of individual and group therapy and medication. Emphasis is placed on treatment of depression and learning new coping skills. Physician referral required.

The social worker in the Psychiatry Day Hospital works with a multidisciplinary team to treat older adults suffering from depression who are living in the community. Social work services include individual and group counselling for the participant as well as supportive counselling for family members. Prior to discharge, the social worker will work with both the patient and the family to ensure that community supports and resources are in place.
