On June 13, 2008, twelve National Bank employees from several different branches around Toronto chose to take a day off work and volunteer their time for the community. They selected Baycrest as their organization of choice.

In the morning the volunteers headed up to the 3rd floor of Baycrest’s hospital and into the rehabilitation wing. They watched some of the clients on the floor participate in their morning exercise class and even got to join in along side them in some of the stretches.

On the beautiful patio which overlooks the city, the group put on their gardening gloves, grabbed their spades and rakes and began to work hard at improving the garden while the clients watched and gave them helpful tips.

After being served lunch, the group presented the Foundation with a $5000 donation. Then the afternoon group headed to the Terraces and in the day’s heat, sawed down trees, picked out weeds and transplanted flowers to create a more beautiful garden for the residents to enjoy during the summer months. Both the clients in the hospital and at the Terraces are enjoying the beautiful gardens that the National Bank employees helped to improve.
