Baycrest Health Sciences is an academic healthcare delivery system fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, serving approximately 1200 seniors per day. It is home to a globally recognized and innovative continuum of healthcare, wellness and prevention programs and services.
Even if you’re already familiar with our organization, you may not be aware of just how much we have to offer. Our services include a hospital, long-term care home, residential and community-based programs and outpatient medical clinics, designed especially for people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.
Our new structure builds on our current strengths and is designed to meet our clients’ needs through clinical excellence and the creation of new practices leading to superior client care outcomes. It will allow us provide a strong base for integration of care, education and research.
It is a patient population focused structure, which means our programs and services focus on the specific primary needs of that group of patients and allow for flow through the continuum of care. For example, the Rehabilitation Program includes the full continuum of care services from inpatient to ambulatory rehabilitation patient needs.
The new centres and programs and services of Baycrest are patient population focused continuums that embed education and research as part of clinical care delivery. Baycrest has also been identified as a strategic partner of the Ontario government. This means the new structure:
- Allows us to introduce innovative models of care delivery and services to the senior population.
- Provides us with a strong base for integration of care, education and research, which will ensure the best care outcomes and development of next practices.
- Shifts our programmatic focus to align with our strategic plan.
