ArtonTheBrain (AoTB) is a mobile health solution (mRx) for older adults with and without cognitive impairment. It is a visual arts-based application designed for tablets, but can also be used on laptops, or desktop computers. Version 1 is in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario as well as a series of research partner institutions across Canada and the UK.
ArtonTheBrain is an evolution of the Baycrest ArtWalk created in 2010 by Aviva Babins and Dr. Kelly Murphy. The ArtWalk is a self-guided tour which, with the aid of a guidebook, uses the artworks displayed at Baycrest Health Sciences to create an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating recreational activity for care partners and care recipients to engage in together.
Recently, ArtonTheBrain is the recipients of two consulting and monetary prizes awarded by Gevity Consulting Inc. and the Ontario Telemedicine Network, at the eHealth Conference (Toronto, June 2015), ArtonTheBrain has received recognition, commercialization support, and increased public awareness through the summer of 2015. With the increase of medical and health applications in the marketplace, in its’ next iteration AoTB’s goal is to provide physicians and clinicians with an evidence-based solution that they can prescribe safely to their patients.
