OCADU professor and Artist Chung-Im Kim focused her Senior students Fibre Arts project on creating site-specific art installations that emphasize the journey of aging in relation to the user experience at Baycrest. The participating floors included: Apotex 3, Palliative Care, and Complex Continuing Care.

Students attended a presentation in September where they learned about the lived experience of clients at Baycrest. Students explored the notions of home, attachment and identity. Unit managers spoke about the teams who lived and worked on the units, as well as the client perspective. Videotaped interviews were further conducted on each floor to gain a deeper understanding of the clients’ needs, wants, and viewpoints.

The goal of this project is to produce fabric-based art installations that are inviting and meaningful to the persons who live and work on the units. The student art work is on display from Friday December 7th through January 2013.
