The Virtual Brain project

The Virtual Brain digital animation project’s goal is to communicate the story of one of Baycrest’s leading innovations in a way that is easy to understand. In partnership with the Rotman Research Institute, we set out to find a creative digital animator who could help us with our mission by posting a call for entry to the Toronto art community.

With great success, the Department of Culture, Arts & Innovation collaborated with true kvlt to produce this animated short. True kvlt’s video was officially launched at the Society for Neuroscience in New Orleans, on October 13th, as well as at Baycrest’s Research Festival.

The Virtual Brain is a computerized model of the brain that will deliver the first, reusuable and open simulation of the human brain. Dr. Randy McIntosh, Vice-President, Research and director, Baycrest’s Rotman Research Institute is leading a team of international scientists to create the world’s first functional, virtual brain, a collaboration with 15 distinguished neuroscientists in 10 sites on three continents.
