There are no outbreaks to report.

An outbreak happens in a hospital or a residential care unit when an infectious disease, such as influenza, occurs in greater numbers than would be expected during a season.

To stop the spread of illness visitors are asked to:

  • Wash your hands often or use the hand sanitizers located throughout Baycrest.
  • Do not visit if you are ill.

As of Thursday, March 26, 2015

An enteric outbreak has been declared at The Terraces of Baycrest.

To stop the spread of this outbreak:

  • Ill residents are asked to remain in their apartments
  • Update on Thursday, March 26: Group activities at the Terraces, including group dining will continue to be cancelled until Monday, March 30. In the meantime, meals will be delivered to all residents in their rooms. 
  • Terraces residents are discouraged from attending programs at the Wagman Centre.
  • Contact signs will be placed on the doors of symptomatic residents.
  • Asymptomatic clients must not visit with ill residents .
  • Visiting ill residents is not advised.
  • Please do not visit if you are ill.
  • Visitors must comply with infection control measures – please wash your hands often or use hand sanitizers located throughout the campus.

Please check in with the service desk at the Terraces for further instructions any time you visit during the outbreak.
