Baycrest Pro-Am raises crucial funding for care and research in Alzheimer’s and related disorders
Close to 800 players, including NHL alumni and dedicated hockey fans, will take to the ice to help raise funds for care and research in Alzheimer’s and related disorders at Canlan Ice Sports this May in Toronto. The Baycrest Pro-Am raised $2.8 million in its first two years. This year, the sky’s the limit.
“Canadians are passionate about hockey,” says Mark Gryfe, the president of the Baycrest Foundation. “The Baycrest Pro-Am turns this passion into action by raising funds for innovative treatment programs and research in Alzheimer’s and related disorders.”
This year, out of the total funds raised, $700,000 will support scientists at Baycrest’s world renowned Rotman Research Institute and Kunin-Lunenfeld Applied Research Unit; $300,000 will support the Sam and Ida Ross Memory Clinic, and the balance will support direct patient care.
