Baycrest Pro-Am is custom-made for winners

“It felt like winning the lottery!” says Baycrest Pro-Am participant Howard Detsky, of being measured for his own pro hockey stick. Howard was among 17 lucky winners on the Geri-Hat-Tricks team who won the custom-made sticks.

The Geri-Hat-Tricks had all their players signed up by December 31, 2007, thereby qualifying for the hockey stick draw. The sticks were donated by Joel Majer, owner of hockey retailer Majer Hockey. Majer Hockey also donated custom-made hockey gloves, which were made to measure, for the top fundraising team in February. “I like the idea of treating the prize-winners like pros,” says Joel.

Majer Hockey is sponsoring the Baycrest Pro-Am at the Superstar level. Joel credits his brother, Dave Majer, who once played hockey at the semi-professional level, for getting him involved in the Pro-Am. “Dave said it was the best organized tournament he’d ever played in,” says Joel. “Plus the funds raised go to Baycrest, which really makes it a winner.”
