Pro-Am welcomes presenting sponsor Scotiabank Group
When Scotiabank was searching for a unique way to touch the lives of Canadians, they looked to the Baycrest International Pro-Am Hockey Tournament.
As a result, notes Baycrest Foundation President Mark Gryfe, “The Pro-Am is proud to welcome the Scotiabank Group as the presenting sponsor for the tournament.”
“The Pro-Am fits with Scotiabank’s objectives of enriching the lives of Canadians in local communities through hockey, while at the same time, engaging community members in a philanthropic cause to raise funds for an important charity,” says Joe Brandt, Scotiabank senior vice-president, Toronto Region.
Scotiabank is the official bank of the National Hockey League, the National Hockey League Players Association, and the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.
“We’re excited by the opportunity to engage more than 50 NHL alumni together with all the hockey enthusiasts – including Scotiabank’s Red Devils and Scotia Capitals teams – for two days of hockey for a worthwhile cause,” says Brandt. He has the job of filling the Scotiabank teams, made up of representatives from branches, Commercial Banking, Scotia Private Client Group and ScotiaMcLeod.
It’s important for Scotiabank to support organizations like Baycrest that touch members of the community of all ages. “Alzheimer’s and related memory disorders affect a growing number of people and the need for research grows stronger,” he says. “It’s important for all of us to play our part, to help improve the quality of life for people affected by these conditions.”
Brandt notes that Alzheimer’s and other disorders that affect people’s memories transcend borders. “As Canada’s most international bank, it makes sense for us to support programs that reach beyond our national borders to help families in need around the world.
“At Scotiabank, we are proud to help support some of this country’s best and brightest in their search for new treatments.”
