The 3rd annual Baycrest International Pro-Am Hockey Tournament is
the ultimate hockey experience for individuals aged 30 and up. This
one-of-a-kind event allows everyday hockey enthusiasts to team
up with former NHL greats in the battle against Alzheimer's and
related disorders at Baycrest.

Bigger and better than ever

Close to 1,000 players, including NHL alumni and dedicated enthusiasts, will take to the ice to help raise funds for care and research in Alzheimer’s and related disorders at Baycrest this May. The Baycrest Pro-Am raised $2.8 million in its first two years. This year, the sky’s the limit.  Read more

Team captains get pumped
An enthusiastic crowd of team captains converged on Baycrest’s Loftus Hall in March, exchanging fundraising tips, jokes and hockey brag stories over breakfast. “It’s a great opportunity to see what everyone else is doing,” says Team Won captain Stan Feldman. “Plus it gets those competitive juices flowing.”   Read more

Pro-Am is custom-made for winners
“It felt like winning the lottery!” says Baycrest Pro-Am participant Howard Detsky, of being measured for his own pro hockey stick. Howard was among 17 lucky winners on the Geri-Hat-Tricks team who won the custom-made sticks.  Read more

Decorium throws gala fundraiser to help their team ‘Stick it to Alzheimer’s!’
Hockey fans, their friends and families enjoyed a lively night out while raising funds for Baycrest at the recent Decorium gala. Organized as part of Decorium’s participation in the Baycrest Pro-Am, the gala was held at the swanky Paradise Banquet and Convention Centre in Concord and featured a silent auction, a live auction, music, dancing, refreshments and more.   Read more

Mark Napier‘Sticking it to Alzheimer’s’ touches a personal chord for Mark Napier
For Mark Napier, executive director of the NHL Alumni Association, the tournament touches a personal chord. Approximately five years ago, his father-in-law was diagnosed with mild Alzheimer’s disease. “For my family it was devastating to see the state of decay that this awful disease can do,” says Napier. “Luckily my wife, who is a nurse, knew about Baycrest and arranged for him to be seen at the clinic.”  Read more

Slowing down Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia – a term used for a number of conditions that lead to a progressive deterioration in our ability to think, remember and perform daily tasks. Researchers are discovering that long before symptoms of the disease appear there are small changes in the brain that may foretell the onset of dementia.

New Centre for Brain Fitness to change the way people age
As Ontario braces for a doubling of its senior population over the next 20 years, it is turning to Baycrest to develop and commercialize a range of innovative products aimed at improving the brain health of aging adults. Today the Ontario Government took a large step in this direction by announcing it is investing $10 million dollars to create the Centre for Brain Fitness at Baycrest.  Read more
