Baycrest recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals
November 10, 2016
Baycrest Health Sciences has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s top 40 research hospitals. Research Infosource’s annual Top 40 Research Hospital list ranks hospitals on their ability to attract financial support for research.
This is the fifth year in a row that Baycrest has placed among the top 10 hospitals for researcher intensity (the amount of research income per researcher). Scientists at the Rotman Research Institute (RRI) attracted $493,600 annually per researcher, almost double the national average of $289,100. Support from both corporate and community donors contributed greatly to the RRI’s research success and impact.
“The financial support for our research is a testament to the confidence our funders have in the ability of our scientists to affect important improvements in the future of brain health and aging,” says Dr. Randy McIntosh, Baycrest’s Vice-President of Research and Director of the RRI.
