Dr. Larissa McKetton
My work focuses on integrating clinical, behavioral, and biological observations to improve the understanding of brain health and advance tools for assessment and care. I study brain health across the human lifespan, with an emphasis on cognitive health and dementia, combining cognitive, lifestyle, sensory, neuroimaging, and clinical data to better understand brain aging. This work supports earlier detection of cognitive decline, improved monitoring of disease progression, and strategies that help maintain independence and quality of life. A central part of this work involves the development and validation of tools that improve how brain health is measured across diverse populations. Using large datasets and data-driven approaches, including big data analytics, I identify patterns in brain function that may not be visible through single measures alone, supporting more precise and clinically meaningful approaches to assessment. In collaboration with partners across academia, healthcare, and industry, this work translates complex data into practical tools and insights that improve how brain health is understood and supported in aging populations, including changes in cognition and awareness across aging and neurodegenerative disease.
