Paul Godfrey – JHA

Founder of Postmedia Network He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Postmedia (July 2010 to October 2017); Chief Executive Officer (October 2017 to November 2017):
  • Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (November 2017 to January 2019);
  • Executive Chairman (January 2019 to December 2020);
  • Chairman (January 2021 to December 2022); and
  • Special Advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors (January 2023 to December 2024).
Prior to the start of Postmedia Network Inc., Paul Godfrey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Post from January 2009 to July 2010. Mr. Godfrey\'s career began in municipal politics when he was elected as a councillor in North York in 1964 at the age of 25. He subsequently served as alderman, controller, and Metro Chairman, holding the latter position for a record 11 years until 1984. Transitioning to the private sector, Mr. Godfrey became Publisher and CEO of the Toronto Sun in 1984. He later led the Sun Media Corporation as President and CEO until 2000, Following Rogers’ purchase of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club, Mr. Godfrey was appointed the Club’s President and Chief Executive Officer on September 1, 2000, a position he held by 8 years. Mr. Godfrey was appointed Chair of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) by the Ontario Provincial Cabinet and served in this role from 2010 to 2013. Education  Mr. Godfrey is a life-long Torontonian. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1962 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering. Memberships and committees 
  • Mr. Godfrey is Vice-Chair of the Baycrest Seniors Care Board of Directors and is a Director of The Jewish Home for the Aged.
  • Mr. Godfrey is the Honourary Chair of The Abraham Global Peace Initiative.
  • Mr. Godfrey served on the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation Board from 1985 to 2008. He also served on the Hospital’s Trustee Board from 1984 to 1994. He and his wife Gina founded The Herbie Fund which provides children from around the world with lifesaving medical treatment at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto.
  • Mr. Godfrey was Chairman of the Molson Indy Board of Trustees from 1987 to 2005 and Chairman of its successor, the Grand Prix Charitable Foundation of Toronto, from 2006 to 2007.
  • Mr. Godfrey founded the Blue Jays Charitable Foundation.
