Board to launch search for next President and CEO

TORONTO, October 27, 2026 – The Board of Directors of Baycrest Seniors Care announced today that Dr. William E. Reichman, President and Chief Executive Officer, will retire from Baycrest in October 2027, following two decades of executive leadership and a distinguished career dedicated to advancing aging and brain health.

Since joining Baycrest in 2007, Dr. Reichman has helped guide the organization’s evolution, strengthening its reputation as a leader in care, research, education and innovation for older adults. An internationally recognized authority in geriatric mental health, dementia care and healthcare innovation, his leadership has spanned a period of significant development across the Baycrest family of companies, including its clinical, residential, research, education and innovation activities.

“Bill’s vision, leadership and dedication have made an extraordinary contribution to Baycrest and to the broader field of aging and brain health,” said Brian Mirsky, Chair, Baycrest Seniors Care. “Throughout his tenure, he has helped shape Baycrest’s evolution, championed its expertise and strengthened its reputation nationally and internationally. His commitment to improving the lives of older adults has been evident in everything he has done. On behalf of the Board, I want to express our deep appreciation for his extraordinary contributions.”

During his tenure, Dr. Reichman helped establish the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), serving as its founding president. He also co-chaired the federal Ministerial Advisory Board on Dementia, contributing to the development of Canada’s first national dementia strategy. He has played a key role in expanding Baycrest’s international presence through Baycrest Global Solutions, developing strategic partnerships and sharing Baycrest’s expertise in aging and brain health with audiences around the world.

Along with the rank of professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Dr. Reichman has held numerous national and international leadership and advisory roles, contributing to healthcare policy, research and the development of innovative services for older adults.

“Serving Baycrest has been one of the great privileges of my professional life,” said Dr. Reichman. “I have been fortunate to work alongside extraordinary colleagues whose expertise, compassion and commitment make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults and their families. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together and am grateful to our employees, physicians, researchers, volunteers, Board members, donors and community partners who have supported this important work.

With a year remaining before my retirement, I look forward to all that we will continue to accomplish together. I remain fully committed to advancing our priorities and supporting a smooth leadership transition.”

The Board will soon launch a comprehensive search for the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Baycrest Seniors Care. Dr. Reichman will continue in his leadership roles through October 2027, providing continuity and supporting a smooth leadership transition.

Baycrest enters this transition with experienced leaders, dedicated teams and a strong foundation on which to build. The Baycrest family of companies remains united in its commitment to advancing aging and brain health through care, research, education, innovation and senior living.

Opportunities to recognize Dr. Reichman’s contributions and celebrate his legacy will be planned closer to his retirement.
