Geriatric General Neurology Clinic
The General Neurology Clinic assesses, diagnoses and cares for older adults with neurological conditions.
Our team works with clients and their families to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. We see clients with a wide range of neurological conditions such as epilepsy, headache, Parkinson’s disease, normal pressure hydrocephalus, gait disorder and neuropathy
We offer comprehensive care, including:
- Medication and non-drug treatments
- Counselling and education about your condition
- Support for family members and caregivers
This clinic is part of the Pamela and Paul Austin Centre for Neurology and Behavioural Support
The Geriatric General Neurology Clinic is one of it’s kind in the GTA. Our interdisciplinary team specializes in neurological disorders in older populations which can have causes with different clinical presentations from other age groups. Our goal is to always provide state-of-the-art service.

At your first visit, you will meet with a member of our team who will go over your medical history and ask about your symptoms.
We will then perform a thorough neurological examination and talk to you about what we have learned. We will work with you and your family to create a personalized care plan that might include:
- More tests like bloodwork or scans
- Referrals to other specialists or medical services
- Follow-up appointments to check on how you are doing
- OHIP card or other health insurance information
- All medications and supplements in their original bottles
- A list of questions you want to ask
- Any medication you might need to take while at the clinic
- Any aids you use, such as a walker, hearing aids or glasses
- A friend or family member for support, if you choose

Eligibility:
We accept referrals for adults who are 50 or older with neurological disorders such as epilepsy, headache, Parkinson’s disease, NPH, gait disorder, neuropathy, etc.
The following are exclusions:
- We don’t accept referral for cognitive/memory assessment. Those referrals can be sent to the Sam and Ida Ross Memory Clinic.
- We don’t accept referral for multiple sclerosis. Those, referrals can be sent to the BARLO MS Centre at St. Michael’s hospital.
- We don’t accept referral for electrophysiological studies (electromyography or nerve conduction studies).
What conditions does the Geriatric General Neurology Clinic treat?
We assess and care for older adults with many neurological conditions, including seizure disorders, nerve disorders and the effects of stroke.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
Yes. A referral from a health-care provider is required. Referrals can be sent by email or fax using our clinic’s referral form.
Are appointments available virtually?
Yes. We offer both in-person and virtual appointments, depending on your needs and the type of visit required.
