Movement Disorders Clinic
The Movement Disorders Clinic helps older adults with movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease and Parkinsonism.
Our clinic team includes neurologists, a physiatrist, nurse specialists, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, personal support workers, pharmacists and administrative staff.
We work with clients and their families to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. We offer comprehensive care, including:
- Medication and non-drug treatments
- Rehabilitation treatment
- Counselling and education about your condition
- Support for family members and caregivers
- Palliative care planning
This clinic is part of the Pamela and Paul Austin Centre for Neurology and Behavioural Support
Our interdisciplinary care team places the individual seeking care at the center, meeting them wherever they are in their health journey. Working collaboratively across medical and allied health disciplines, we provide holistic, expert care throughout the illness continuum; partnering with the individual to achieve the highest quality of life.

At your first visit, you will meet with members of our team who will go over your medical history and ask about your symptoms.
A physician will then perform a thorough examination and talk to you about what we have learned. We will work with you and your family to develop a personalized care plan that might include:
- Tests like bloodwork or scans
- Medication
- Services like physical therapy, speech therapy or social work
- Referrals to other specialists or medical services
- Follow-up appointments to check on how you are doing
Your first visit will take place in our clinic, but some follow-up appointments may be available virtually.
- OHIP card or other health insurance information
- All medications and supplements in their original bottles
- A list of questions you want to ask
- Any medication you might need to take while at the clinic
- Any aids you use, such as a walker, hearing aids or glasses
- A friend or family member for support, if you choose

Eligibility criteria include people over 18 with Parkinson’s disease, parkinsonism and other movement disorders such as tremor, dystonia or gait impairment.
What symptoms should make me consider a referral to the Movement Disorders Clinic?
If you have tremors, stiffness, balance problems, slowed movement or other changes caused by Parkinson’s or other movement disorders, we can provide treatment options.
What kinds of treatments could help my movement disorder?
We may recommend a range of treatments including medication, physiotherapy, speech therapy or referrals to other specialists.
Are virtual appointments available at the Movement Disorders Clinic?
Yes. While your first visit is always in person, some follow-up appointments can be done virtually if appropriate. We will help you prepare so you can participate comfortably from home.
