Virtual Behavioural Medicine for Health-Care Providers
Virtual Behavioural Medicine (VBM) helps people living with dementia manage behaviours that can put themselves and others at risk.
We work with local health-care teams and families across Ontario. We offer:
- Specialized neuropsychiatric support
- Help with optimizing patient care and treatment goals
- Continuity during transitions between environments
- Novel treatment approaches for dementia that improve outcomes

As you consider your current practice, ask yourself the following:
- Do you feel confident identifying people living with dementia who have severe neuropsychiatric symptoms such as aggression, agitation, hallucinations or paranoia?
- How comfortable are you in managing these complex behaviours, particularly during transitions between care settings?
- Do you have quick access to specialized support when your existing strategies are no longer sufficient?
- Are you confident choosing and adjusting medications for these patients as their needs change?
If you need additional expertise or faster access to behavioural consultation, the VBM program can help you assess and manage patients with neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia.
This free online course introduces clinicians to the VBM program and its benefits.
A referral is necessary to access the VBM program.
Please see our VBM referral checklist (PDF) to determine if your patient meets the eligibility criteria.
Please send this VBM referral form to [email protected] or fax to 647-788-4883.
If you are referring a client to both the VBM and admission to the Seniors Specialty Hospital Beds, then please fill and send this VBM and CASS referral form (PDF) to [email protected] or fax to 647-788-4883.
