Simulation and Virtual Learning

Simulation and Virtual Learning

The Centre of Education’s division of Simulation and Virtual Learning develops innovative training and educational programs related to geriatric care for teams both at Baycrest and beyond.

Simulation is a teaching method that uses a variety of tools and technology to re-create clinical situations in an educational setting. It can include:

  • Technical skills training
  • Role playing
  • Virtual reality
  • E-learning
  • Blended simulation

Simulation is a relatively new approach to training in geriatric and long-term care. At Baycrest, it has helped to foster interprofessional learning, one of our key priorities. It gives experienced staff the opportunity to practice important team skills like communication, collaboration and ethics.

Our innovative geriatric Simulation and Virtual Learning program has been made possible thanks to an endowment from the Rodda family.
