The exact length of your stay will depend on your individual needs.
We offer an active rehabilitation program which usually lasts less than four weeks. We also offer a slow-stream program for patients who need more time to heal and recover.
After you are admitted, you will meet with members of our team who will help you decide on your own individual rehabilitation goals. Your rehabilitation plan and length of stay will be guided by the attainable goals you and your caregivers want to achieve.
Your rehabilitation therapy might include exercises and activities that focus on:
- Strength and mobility
- Balance and coordination
- Endurance
- Thinking and memory
- Use of assistive devices like walkers or shower chairs
- Ability to do everyday activities
Please note that there are also co-payments required for Inpatient Rehabilitation beds, no matter which room you choose.
A co-payment is a daily charge that is set by the Ontario Ministry of Health to help pay for non-medical services like meals and accommodations. This is different from the fees for semi-private or private rooms.
Some patients may be eligible for reduced co-payments on the basis of income.
Learn more about co-payments from the Ministry of Health.
Patients are referred to our rehabilitation unit from acute-care hospitals. If you would like to be referred, please speak to a member of your care team, like a physiotherapist, social worker or discharge planner.
