Information on MAID for Residents

Baycrest is a Jewish faith-based organization and is committed to treating each individual with respect, dignity and compassion.

The following policy regarding medical assistance in dying (MAID) applies to residents of the Apotex Centre, Jewish Home for the Aged and the Terraces.

If there is a request for MAID by a Baycrest resident in their home in the Apotex Centre, Jewish Home for the Aged or in the Terraces, we involve the Ministry of Health’s MAID Care Coordination Service to identify external providers to assess for eligibility in the resident’s home. If eligibility criteria are met, an external provider may administer MAID in the resident’s home.
