The Ambulatory Mental Health Clinic offers psychiatric appointments to older adults with complex medical, mental and emotional issues.

Our team helps clients and their families on a short-term basis. We see people with mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.

Our services include:

  • Treatment including medication and therapy
  • Referrals to other specialists
  • Connecting patients to resources and services
  • Education and support for clients, families and caregivers

At your first appointment, you will meet with a member of our team who will ask you questions as part of an assessment.

We will work with you and your family to decide on a treatment plan that will meet your needs. Treatment plans may include:

  • Medication
  • Psychotherapy
  • Relaxation techniques

We may recommend you return for one or more follow-up appointments.

  • OHIP card or other health insurance information
  • All medications and supplements in their original bottles
  • A list of questions you want to ask
  • Any medication you might need to take while at the clinic
  • Any aids you use, such as a walker, hearing aids or glasses
  • A friend or family member for support, if you choose

The Ambulatory Mental Health Clinic can accept patients who fit the following criteria:

  • Age 65 or older
  • Experiencing a mental health issue, such as depression, anxiety, behaviour or personality changes, confusion or otherwise causing significant caregiver stress
  • Able to attend appointments at Baycrest

Who can visit this clinic?

Adult who are 65 years or older and experiencing mental health challenges like depression or anxiety can ask their primary care provider for a referral to this clinic.

Do I have to live in Toronto to attend this clinic?

You do not have to live in Toronto, but you do have to be able to attend appointments at Baycrest. We serve clients from all over the Greater Toronto Area.

How long will I receive care at this clinic?

We provide short-term care to help you feel better. We can also help you find ongoing support through referrals to specialists and community services.
