Adult Day Programs

Adult Day Programs

The Baycrest Community Day Centre for Seniors offers social, recreational, educational and cultural programming for older adults living in the wider community.

Operating since 1959, we are the first adult day program of our kind in Canada. We continue to lead in offering innovative activities that meet the individual needs of our clients.

Older adults who need support can spend part of the day outside the home connecting with peers and participating in recreational activities.

Our caring staff includes recreational therapists, nurses, program assistants and social workers who work closely with participants and their families.

All our programming is led by recreational therapists and creative arts workers to promote socialization and brain health.

The Freeman Family Day Centre serves older adults who are well, living with physical frailty or mild cognitive impairments.

The Samuel Lunenfeld Mountainview Club serves older adults living with moderate-to-severe dementia. This is a structured program with a high level of support in a secure environment. It also provides behavioural management techniques and consultations with health-care professionals.

The goal of both our day programs is to enrich the lives of our participants. We also offer virtual programming for those who cannot travel to Baycrest.

The Adult Day Program is funded by Ontario Health, the Baycrest Foundation and daily member fees.

“Having had to retire earlier than expected due to illness, I found I was not prepared for it. Coming to these Adult Day Programs has helped me meet new people, learn new things and enjoy participating in leisure activities two days a week. It also gives my wife some free time for herself, and she has piece of mind knowing I am well cared for.”

“My husband and I think it is a remarkable program because the quality of care is outstanding. Staff anticipate our individual needs and are sensitive, caring and quick to respond. We see this each day we attend.”
