Artist: Michael Adamson, gift to Baycrest, 2001

Baycrest comes to life with an incredible endowment of works of fine arts, sculpture, and mixed media arts. Art holds an important role in the healing process, and so Baycrest adorns every surface with works of art – along our main corridors, hospital wings, resident rooms, staff offices, cafeteria, meeting areas, ceremonial spaces, day care centres, and gardens – art is everywhere.

Art is an invaluable environmental support. It is used within Baycrest as a method of way-finding, to help with orientation to place, and to foster a sense of identity and attachment.

The visual variety of the art at Baycrest is remarkable, and has been generously gifted by many donors over the years. This diversity enables us to select and group works in many different combinations so that no one space feels exactly like another.

Baycrest Art Committee

Baycrest is fortunate to have a committee of dedicated art patrons whose expertise and commitment are integral to the richness of the Baycrest art collection. The primary role of the Art Committee is to oversee and encourage individuals and corporations to donate artwork to Baycrest as well as raise funds to cover the cost of archival framing to protect the pieces. The Art Committee supports activities that use art to enhance the quality of life at Baycrest.
