Research Focus

 

Julie has lived and worked in Northern and Southwestern Ontario in a variety of community and health care settings, before being recruited to lead the start-up service to centrally manage waiting lists and admissions to all long term care homes in Toronto. Subsequently, she was the founding CEO of the Scarborough Community Care Access Centre, where she led several collaborative initiatives across all of the CCACs in Toronto, and across all CCACs in Ontario. She served as President and CEO at Osteoporosis Canada, followed by various consulting and management assignments including a nearly two year term as Interim CEO at a dementia care retirement home.
 
Over the past forty years, Julie has been involved in a wide variety of volunteer endeavours at community agencies and on behalf of the profession of social work.  She has served on Committees and Boards of Directors at local, provincial, national and international levels. 
 
At a personal level, Julie has been a family caregiver; both her husband and mother lived and died in long term care homes.  She and her husband and were long time volunteers for the Alzheimer Society after his related diagnosis.
