The enjoyment of a meal is important to quality of life, and at Baycrest we make an extra effort to prepare and serve kosher meals that are both tasty and nutritious.

Operating one of the largest kosher kitchens in Canada, we serve about one million meals per year to our clients – all certified by COR.  Our Food and Nutrition Services Department, together with the Client Food Committee, tests and uses a wide range of recipes to produce a varied menu.

Our team consists of registered dietitians, diet technicians, food service supervisors, cooks, cleaners, and servers, all of whom are focused on ensuring that our meals meet the needs of our clients. We also have a dedicated team of mashgiah (kashrut supervisors) who work with our team members and our clients to address any kasrut issues.

We monitor our service in many ways, including temperature audits, accuracy checks, and sample meals for evaluation. All staff members working in the Food and Nutrition Department are qualified as Certified Food Handlers by the Toronto Public Health Department.

Our Food and Nutrition Department serves the following areas: the Hospital, the Apotex Centre, Jewish Home for the Aged, our Freeman Family Day Centre and Samuel Lunenfeld Mountainview Day Program, Meals on Wheels via Circle of Care and our retail operations.
